The United Spaniel Association is pleased to welcome everyone to our seminars – not just sporting spaniel enthusiasts. For those who have been before,- we hope to see you again, and for those who are thinking of attending for the first time – you are assured of a warm welcome and an interesting day in good company.
Following the success of our seminar a couple of years ago when the breed standards of the eight sporting spaniels was presented, we believed that a discussion on the characteristics that make each breed different would be of interest to everyone. Last year we covered the Cocker and American Cocker breeds so we are delighted to continue this time with Irish Water and Sussex Spaniels. Both our speakers are well known in their respective breeds.
Ian Layfield, our chairman, will give a talk based on recollections and information from Peggy Grayson who is well known for her extensive knowledge of the history of sporting spaniels. The talk will be accompanied by photographs.
First Aid is a topic which is often asked for and we hope this talk will provide some interesting and useful hints on what to do when problems arise either before going to the vet or to deal with minor problems more confidently yourself.
Last year we were pleased to welcome Terry Arnett of West Midlands Police Dog Training Centre and by popular demand he returns this year to give a more detailed insight into their world. The force have several breeds of dog and train for differing aspects of police work, from searching for fugitives, to drugs detection. His talk will include a demonstration on how the dogs are trained and work.
The Pilgrim Bandits became a charity in 2010. Its aim is to provide physical and mental challenges for amputee and injured servicemen from all sections of the forces, police, ambulance and fire services. Their motto is” helping our injured forces to go a little further”. More information is available on their website www.pilgrimbandits.org. We are proud to support this charity and all proceeds from our raffle will go to them.
Refreshments are available throughout the day but if anyone has particular dietary needs, please indicate this when completing the application. A hot meal or vegetarian alternative will be available.
Please make your cheques payable to “ The United Spaniel Association” and not to the secretary.
